Flying

Several years ago my daughter drew a lot of flying characters  – horses, unicorns, butterflies and aeroplanes, but also children. From time to time I have returned to her old drawings and thought that some day I will create a piece where her drawings will get life, a piece based on dance, music and animations  – a piece where all her characters start to fly.”

Flying is a performance which through dance, music and pictures creates a choreographic, musical and visual narrative which talks to a broad audience. The choreography is inspired by the aesthetics from children’s drawings, maybe not so clinical, but still very worked through in its own personal way. The overall theme at the piece is “to fly”, which can give associations to all from flying animals and machines to personal development, the wings of fantasy and the longing for freedom. The production was created in tight collaboration between Jukka Korpi, Finnish visual artist Li Taiga and Swedish composer Daniela Dahl.
